I went to law school and graduated in 2011. After I graduated, I worked at a large firm in Atlanta with over 1000 attorneys throughout the country. I was a little intimidated going into such a big law firm. But as soon as I started, I had several other Mercer law alums that reached out to me. And there was a real community within this big firm of Mercer law grads. We were in touch, often to support each other to try to bring other Mercer law students up to our firm in Atlanta. And just generally trying to make sure that we were supporting each other and we were advancing each other's careers wherever possible.
Mercer taught us that basically, if there's something that you want, you have to go out there and make it happen. They provided many opportunities for us to mingle with alumni. And serving as the vice president and the president of the Black Law Students Association, that put me in a really unique position to have constant contact with alumni and to make other opportunities for students on campus to have that same type of contact. So I would say that that's the skill that I carry with me the most.
I love coming back to Mercer and I love giving back with my time and my talents and also my resources. Because Mercer has enriched my life in so many ways. I met my husband here at Mercer, but I've also made some of the best friends I think I could have ever had. Mercer has given so much to me. I mean, it's my family, my profession, my friendships, and I hope to continue to contribute and give back in any way and all that I can.
