We start by meeting with our first years during their first semester of law school and talking to them about what brought them to law school, what they're interested in pursuing, it's okay, if they don't know that yet. We'll talk to them about what classes they like. But our whole goal is to tailor an experience that's unique to that individual students. So whatever they're interested in, we want to help them find opportunities in that area of the law.
Through my experience here at Mercer and what I've been able to work through with the Career Services Department. In my discussions with them, I have two distinct paths that I'm keenly interested in. One of them is with Patent law, which was born out of a presentation where they invited somebody to campus who specifically specializes in what it takes to get a patent bar license. And then also because of my internship at the bankruptcy court, I've now made relationships with bankruptcy counsel in the Macon area.
I'm actually very excited from opportunities post-grad. Career Services has always just kept all the student body informed when it comes to any kind of job opportunities. For example, the Southeastern Minority Job Fair and Career Services sent out an email blast before Fall semester started this year, that same dev will be taking applications in the sort of list of employers I saw that there was a government agency that was applying, which was the 11th circuit Federal Court of Appeals and I'm actually amazed to find a random interviewing so hopefully, I will be working there this fall, but if not, I can always rely on Career Services to put me in the right direction.
